You can’t really say it was a shock to hear that Thrice, after thirteen years and 8 studio albums, had decided to go on Hiatus late last year following the collective decision from band members to end on a high, and explore other areas of their life.
Frontman Dustin Kensrue took to the band’s website, citing: “The way we’ve been doing things for a while is simply not sustainable for me anymore”, explaining his desire to spend more time with his family as the main reason he was taking a breather. Though following a recent tweet, it looks as though it could all be about to start again:
Got a room on the day off. Going to try to finish the Joybringer EP. @marshillmusic twitter.com/dustinkensrue/…

It would appear that Kensrue is locked and loaded, ready to rock with his new project, Joybringer, with an EP already in the pipes. While many fans of the band will agree that their latest releases were somewhat…soft, it will be interesting to hear Kensrue’s story through another lens.
