American pop group TLC have announced an Australian tour in 2024. The group’s surviving members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of their album CrazySexyCool. TLC will be joined by special guests Busta Rhymes and En Vogue.
In a statement, the group reflected on the album’s impact in Australia. “I’m so excited to return to Australia,” Chilli said. “This is the album that put us on the map with Aussie fans and showed the world who we really are. And to mark 30 years, this will be quite the celebration!”
TLC’s CrazySexyCool went 2x ARIA platinum
Released in 1994, CrazySexyCool was TLC’s second studio album. It included the US #1 singles ‘Waterfalls’ and ‘Creep’ and received diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, denoting sales in excess of ten million. In Australia, it was a massive hit, reaching the top five and staying in the top 100 for 76 weeks, eventually achieving double platinum accreditation.
TLC’s success continued with their next album, 1999’s FanMail, which featured the ARIA number one single ‘No Scrubs’. The group’s third member, rapper and creative visionary Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, died in a car accident in 2002. Chilli and T-Boz rallied to complete their fourth album, 3D, which came out six months after Left Eye’s death. Just one more album has followed since that time, 2017’s TLC.
TLC were last in Australia for 2022’s Fridayz Live tour, playing shows around the country alongside Macklemore, Craig David, Akon, Shaggy and more.
