Since hearing the shock news of Prince‘s death yesterday, thousands of fans across the world have gathered together to share their grief and celebrate the immortal legacy of The Purple One.
Memorial block parties have popped up all over the globe, but none bigger than in Prince’s home state of Minnesota where incredible footage shows thousands of voices uniting to sing his iconic Purple Rain.
While elsewhere across the planet, iconic monuments – including Melbourne Arts Centre – have turned purple for Prince as a sign of respect.
And it turns out, there are plenty of places to park your little red corvette right here in Australia too. We’re talking spots where it’s perfectly OK to sob into your raspberry beret, hug the stranger next to you and drunkenly belt out Cream.
And for those who can’t make it, you can also toast Prince from the comfort of your own home.

For one thing, Double J is playing nothing but Prince, all weekend. While ABC’s Rage are throwing two weekends’ worth of tributes, so expect to kick back with some of your favourite Prince clips tonight at the start of the show’s regularly scheduled programming. But they’re saving the fully-fledged tribute event for next weekend (April 30th).
“We’ll be having a full blown Prince special,” Rage producers said in a Facebook statement. We’re talking nothing but PRINCE. This way we can organise the best dedication/special you’ve ever seen!”
