Today Marks A Decade Since Rebecca Black Blessed The World With ‘Friday’

It’s a monumental day in music history, folks, as this day 10 years ago saw the release of Rebecca Black‘s debut single, ‘Friday’.

On the nine year anniversary of the song last year, Black took to Twitter to share how the backlash against the song impacted her life.

“Above all things, I just wish I could go back and talk to my 13 year old self who was terribly ashamed of herself and afraid of the world,” she wrote.

“I’m trying to remind myself more and more that every day is a new opportunity to shift your reality and lift your spirit. You are not defined by any one choice or thing. Time heals and nothing is finite. It’s a process that’s never too late to begin.”

That healing process has led to her commemorating the 10-year-anniversary of ‘Friday’ in a far different way. This year, she’s opted to release an insane hyperpop remix of the song, with featured verses from 3OH!3, Big Freedia and Dorian Electra. The remix was also produced by Dylan Brady of 100 Gecs.

We’re being 100 per cent serious here. Listen to it below.
