Tom DeLonge Is "Willing And Interested" In Rejoining Blink-182

Former Blink-182 guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge says he is “totally willing and interesting” in reuniting with his former bandmates Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, reassuring fans that the longtime Blink lineup might actually have a future.

In a recent interview with Billbaord, DeLonge says that he still thinks about Blink every day, and suggests that his time apart from the band might eventually come to an end.

“I’m totally willing and interested in playing with those guys again,” DeLonge says. “People ask me every single day, ‘Go back, go back, go back.’ And I tell people I haven’t forgotten anything and I’m grateful for that band and for those guys in my life.

“And I think about that band every single day of my life — sometimes multiple times a day. I love those guys and I love the band and, yeah, in the future let’s play together and figure it out or whatever.

“We just need time apart because we all want different things at this time. Those guys want to play the music and tour all the time, but I’m involved in some very big shit and some very important stuff.”

DeLonge is currently working on his Poet Anderson science-fiction saga, and an EP which is set to be released on 4th September ahead of the Poet Anderson… Of Nightmares novel.

Blink-182’s Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus announced their split from DeLonge in January this year, and later said they were going through a “friendly divorce” with the muso. In July, DeLonge said rejoining Blink-182 could just take “a few phone calls”.

DeLonge has been replaced by Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba, and Blink planned to record new music with this new lineup in August.

Speaking about the band’s new roster, DeLonge says that he just wants everyone to be happy. “Myself and those guys together were a very specific thing. If they want to go off and play the songs I wrote because that’s what they want to do and that makes them happy and they want to make a living, that’s cool,” he says.

“It’s not like it makes me extraordinarily jealous and I feel like I have to be on stage with them. I’m not wired that way.

“It wouldn’t have bothered me if they called me up and said, ‘Hey, if you’re really busy do you mind if we go out and do some of these things?’ I would’ve said, ‘Hell yeah, go for it.’ But it just never went down that way.”

Meanwhile, Blink drummer Travis Barker is preparing to release his autobiography. As NME reports, the memoir, titled Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death & Drums Drums Drums, will be published in November. The book will see Barker discuss the rock music world, the rise of Blink-182 and his involvement in a 2008 plane crash which left him severely injured.
