Tom Jones has announced an exclusive Melbourne performance for the Forum Theatre on Wednesday, 24th September, ahead of his appearance at the AFL Grand Final on Saturday, 27th September. Joining the legendary, multimillion-selling singer for the performance will be local singer-songwriter Lanie Lane.
Before joining Ed Sheeran and Olivia Newton-John at the Grand Final, the Welsh superstar will be taking on one of Melbourne’s most iconic venues to perform a selection of songs the range from classic hits like It’s Not Unusual, to tracks from his acclaimed recent albums, Spirit In The Room and Praise & Blame.
Though he’s known for his repertoire of blue-eyed soul, Jones is first and foremost a rocker with a rhythm & blues soul. With a career that spans 40 years, Tom Jones has gone from strength to strength, still captivating audiences worldwide with his inimitable voice and his charismatic onstage presence.
Recent years have seen Jones achieve a career-pinnacle of critical acclaim, with 2010’s Praise & Blame and 2012’s Spirit In The Room receiving praise for their mature, spiritual themes and for their production, which saw an unvarnished Jones recording each song completely live with producer Ethan Johns.
Jones will also perform with Ed Sheeran at a special post-Grand Final celebration at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Entry is free to all, even for those without Grand Final tickets. Entry is via Gates 4, 5, and 6 from 6pm.
