Funding dramas have caused one of Australia’s most successful musical exports of recent years, Tonight Alive, to re-arrange the main support slot for their impending Australian ‘There’s No Place Like Home’ Tour.
Reports came late last week that The Dangerous Summer were forced to pull out due to Tonight Alive’s Management being unable to pay the arranged fee. This comes as a massive let-down to fans of The Dangerous Summer, who have had to cancel previous tour plans to come to Australia. Frontman AJ Perdomo was quick to respond via his Twitter, making it clear their band wasn’t to blame.
“Fyi. The tonight alive tour drop wasnt our fault. They emailed us two weeks before the tour saying they couldnt afford the original offer.”@ajperdomo
Fans were not impressed, responding with taunts: “another day, another The Dangerous Summer tour cancelled” and “Good job AJ, putting the blame on another band again“. Moments later, Perdomo tweeted again:
“We would obviously very much love to get to australia and see you all. We’ll be back asap. Love tonight alive, theyll kill it double” @ajperdomo
Tonight Alive have been somewhat silent over the issue, though took to Facebook to explain: “NPLH ANNOUCEMENT! We regret to inform you that The Dangerous Summer have had to cancel their appearance on our tour, but we’re excited to announce that our good friends Young Guns from the UK will be joining us on all dates excluding Adelaide, Ballarat and Melbourne under 18s”
UK’s Young Guns will step up to the plate for main support and are a great addition to the tour.
The band has also released a video statement:
