Israeli city Jaffa experienced a series of shooting and stabbing assaults by Palestinian attackers on Tuesday, in which an American tourist was killed and nine others wounded . The attacks are a part of the long history of violence between Palestine and Israel, and the bloodshed was reportedly brought to an end on Tuesday, with help from a quick-thinking Tool fan.
According to The Associated Press, the Jaffa attacker, who was stabbing people in the street, was stopped by a nearby Tool fan playing his guitar.
The man, identified by AP as Yishai, wore a Tool shirt and said, “I was sitting down playing guitar and I heard screaming from across the street.”
“I saw a man run at me with a knife. I ran at him with the guitar and smashed it in his head. He was so stunned and didn’t know what to do with himself and then started running away.”
Accounts on social media have shared pictures identifying ‘Yishai Montgomery’ and the smashed acoustic guitar in question. @SagiOrli tweeted a photo with the caption, “When ur guitar save yr life this guy stopped the #TelAviv terrorist bashed his guitar on the terrorist head,” and @Foxyonat tweeted, “Yishai Montgomery was playing guitar on the beach in #Jaffa when he saw the Assailant attacking people. He chased him.”

Police said the attacker ran toward the beach after the confrontation with Yishai and continued his attack before he was shot and killed.
A series of other attacks – stabbings as well as shootings and car-ramming attacks – occurred across Israel on Tuesday, resulting in at least 28 deaths.
