Tool New Album Report “Taken Out Of Context”

LA rock band Tool have officially refuted claims that their yet unnamed fifth studio album is “one-hundred percent done” and ready for a 2014 release.

On Thursday, 6th March, Crave Online Australia reported that Tool guitarist Adam Jones had divulged the new album information to an unnamed fan in Portland, Oregon.

Now, in an official statement released to Rolling Stone, the band explain that a misunderstanding between Jones and the fan led to reports that the group had a fully completed new LP up their sleeve and were intending to release it later this year.

“Last night, Adam Jones, in a private conversation with fans attending the Portland Tool concert, joked that the band’s new album was not only finished but coming out the next day,” the statement reads.

“Unfortunately, his off-the-cuff joke was taken out of context. Work on the forthcoming album is ongoing and as soon as it is done, trust me, we will be the first to let everyone know.”

Jones later posted on Twitter, saying: “FYI, ‘The record’s done and it’s coming out tomorrow’ is what I said yesterday, followed by ‘just kidding…’.”

The follow-up to Tool’s 2006 album 10,000 Days has been one of the most anticipated album releases ever since reports surfaced in July 2013 that the band were working on new material. Tool are currently on tour across North America.
