Last month, Travis Barker boarded a plane and flew for the first time since the tragic 2008 plane crash. The crash led to Barker being severely burnt and traumatised and the two pilots as well as two of Barker’s friends dying.
So, of course, it was a pretty big deal last month, when Travis Barker revealed via Instagram that he would be boarding a flight. Posting a picture of him holding Kourtney Kardashian in his arms in front of a plane, he wrote, “With you anything is possible.”
Now, he’s opened up about the experience to Nylon in a new interview.
“I didn’t even know I was going,” he told the publication.
“I made a deal with her that she had just said to me, ‘I would love to do so much traveling with you. I want to go to Italy with you. I want to go to Cabo with you. I want to go to Paris with you. I want to go to Bora Bora with you.’
“And I said, ‘Well, when the day comes you want to fly, I’m telling you I’ll do it with you. I would do anything with you. And just give me 24 hours’ notice.’ And that’s what she did.”
He goes on to talk about how breathing exercises helped him remain calm for the two-hour flight.
“It’s still something very new to me, but having something that gives me the strength and hope to be able to overcome things that were so traumatic in my life, it just says a ton.
“[Kourtney’s] definitely that for me. I’m invincible when I’m with her. It’s like I never dreamed, I never even considered flying again.”
