Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest has confirmed more music is still on the cards from the group, so if you’ve been trying to deal with the group’s new album We Got It From Here, Thank You For Your Service being deemed their final release, today is indeed a very good day.
Despite the fact that Q-Tip previously announced on Facebook and later confirmed in an interview with Billboard that “this is our last record”, he has now pricked up everyone’s ears in a new interview with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1.
“Stay tuned for any other incarnation, ’cause we don’t intend on stopping because that was Phife’s M.O. was, like, ‘This time we gotta do it and keep going,’ and now he’s left us with the equation of how do we do it, but we are going to need it, and we’re going to continue,” Q-Tip said.
Whatever form this new A Tribe Called Quest ‘incarnation’ takes, it’s just good to know that the music will go on, even though Q-Tip also told the BBC that We Got It From Here, Thank You For Your Service provided some kind of “closure”.
He said, “I’m sure we would’ve liked to continue, but it’s just hard to imagine doing that without [Phife Dawg].”
Q-Tip also recently confirmed that A Tribe Called Quest have plans for a world tour.
So, fans, you officially have permission to get excited for more Tribe goodness. We don’t know when, we don’t know how, and we don’t know where, but it’s coming.
