As the iconic face of Twisted Sister, Dee Snider became one of the most recognisable figures in ’80s metal. He’s got a few stories to tell, so he’s heading to Australia in 2019.
Snider has done it all, so now he’s coming down under to speak about it. Dropping in on Sydney and Melbourne he’ll perform two shows per city, one SPOKEN one SHOUTED!
The SHOUTED! shows promise a live performance with a full backing band and plenty of the hits.
In 1985, Twisted Sister figured prominently in one of the greatest hooplas in modern musical history. We’re talking of course about the Parents Music Resource Center, a political movement which wanted a lot of music banned. For one it was supposedly corrupting the youth. Secondly, well, it was apparently from the devil.
Speaking in music’s defence, Snider — alongside Frank Zappa and John Denver (go figure) — testified before the US Congress. No, music was not evil they explained.
And you know something must have clicked because metal anthems like ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ and ‘I Wanna Rock’ weren’t banned.
Twisted Sister’s initial run ended in ’87, and from there Snider fronted other projects like Widowmaker and Desperado. He’s also appeared in a number of reality television series and hosts radio show House of Hair.
