Two young men were left fighting for life in hospital after attending a dance party in Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday.
The men, aged 22 and 24, were taken to Westmead Hospital from the Hardcore Til I Die event in critical conditions, but have thankfully since been stabilised.
A man is 20’s was also taken to hospital in a serious condition from the same rave, while six others were hospitalised in less serious conditions.
A further five people were hospitalised after attending the Electric Gardens Festival in Sydney’s Centennial Park, including two women aged in their 60’s.
“NSW Health can confirm 14 patients were transported to hospitals yesterday and overnight from the festivals,” a spokeswoman told Nine, adding that drugs are likely to have been a factor in six of the cases. She did not confirm which six.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old boy from Castle Hill boy has been charged with multiple drug supply offences after Hardcore Til I Die, after police allegedly caught him with 579 MDMA caps and $2075 in cash at the event.
In addition to making a total of ten arrests, police also issued 47 people with drug criminal infringement notices across both festivals.
NSW Health put multiple harm reduction measures in place at both festivals this weekend — including more medical staff — in the wake of the heat and a recent spate of fatal drug overdoses at the state’s festivals.
