It feels as though Two Door Cinema Club can hardly wait to hand us their new tunes. After the shortest teasing campaign of all time, the band have shared a brand new single Are We Ready? (Wreck) – the first new tunage from the trio in what feels like an age.
The track copped its first outing with Annie Mac on her BBC Radio 1 show and is a worthy handshake with the first new material from the band since 2013’s Changing Of The Seasons EP. In an attempt to hold a mirror up to the consumerist society of today through Are We Ready? (Wreck), the band have created a charming, crisp track with an absolute hookfest of a chorus feat. singalong chanting.
Speaking to NME, Guitarist Sam Halliday spoke of the song’s subject matter, explaining the message behind the song as “rebelling against [consumerism]”, adding “The lyrics play on that and hating how the world is going in terms of commercialism and how people are addicted to social media and living on their phones.”
The Irish outfit confirmed a new album was on the way earlier in the year, taking to Instagram to share the news with us. Since then they’ve performed a number of secret shows in their native Northern Ireland billed under the name ‘a tribute to Two Door Cinema Club.”
