Two Tool Members Injured In Separate Scooter Crashes?

Two members of Tool may have been involved in separate scooter accidents over the last month – and one is still recovering from his injuries. According to a newsletter update posted on Tool’s official website a few days ago, the crashes pushed back jamming and writing sessions for the band’s new studio album, which is expected to be released later this year.

The update read as follows:

“The New Year started off on a bad note as far as writing and arranging sessions for Tool’s next record. For the most part this was due to a ‘minor’ accident on a Vespa scooter (slick road conditions being the cause) by a certain band member that resulted in several broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder… Coincidently (?), a few days prior to the mishap on the scooter, another person involved with Tool also wound up in the hospital after crashing his Vespa in Hollywood.”

While the identities of the injured members of the Tool clan remain unclear, Metal Injection believes drummer Danny Carey and bass player Justin Chancellor were the unlucky ones involved in the mishaps.

This is because guitarist Adam Jones was recently at the WWE Royal Rumble, where he successfully proposed to his girlfriend, and given the mention of “the physical nature of the musical instrument involved” in the newsletter update it would almost certainly mean frontman Maynard James Keenan escaped injury too.

The Tool webmaster is promising a bit more information on the band’s progress in the studio next month. Tool have no tour dates locked in for 2013 yet, except for an appearance at OzzFest Japan in May.
