Tyler, The Creator has opened up about his mixed feelings regarding the latest U2 album, Songs of Innocence, which was famously released for free, directly to users’ iTunes libraries. Writing via his Twitter page, the ever-controversial Odd Future chief likened the album’s release to waking up with herpes.

“Fuck Bono,” began Tyler, before launching into an all-caps rant against the way the Irish rockers distributed their follow-up to 2009’s No Line on the Horizon. “Get off my fucking phone. You couldn’t come up with an actual marketing idea? Fuck U2, I don’t want you. Fuck Bono. I didn’t ask for you…”

After insisting that having the latest U2 album automatically pop-up on his phone is “legit like waking up with a pimple or like a herpe”, Tyler apparently warmed to the idea. An industrious self-marketer in his own right, Tyler commented that it’s “kinda sick that they are on people’s phone out of nowhere.”

The 23-year-old rapper’s initial reaction to finding the album on his phone echoes that of many Apple users who were unaware of the Songs of Innocence rollout. As Consequence of Sound reports, many users took to Twitter to express concern about being hacked after seeing the album appear in iTunes.

Meanwhile, Tyler and his cohorts in Odd Future recently unveiled their own latest venture. As Rolling Stone reports, earlier this week the California rap crew launched their own commercial-free channel on Dash Radio. The group says the channel will broadcast “our shows, our shit and music we like”.
