If anyone was to start some controversy at Coachella this weekend, it was going to be frequent shit-stirrer and rapper Tyler, The Creator, who has come through with the goods, spraying a slew of celebs during his 50 minute set.
Announcing recently that he will be releasing a new album next week, Tyler showed off a handful of his new songs at the FOMO-inducing California desert music festival and took some swings at the likes of Kendall Jenner, Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg for good measure.
Taking the piss out of the famous 2012 Coachella set that featured a hologram of Tupac Shakur, Tyler kicked off his set with a nonchalant “What up Dre? What up Snoop?” to the empty stage. He followed it up with a shout out to Kardashian cult member Kendall Jenner.
“We got fuckin’ Kendall Jenner here,” he said of the youngest Kardashian. “Hey Kendall, I’m over here to your right. Fuck you!”
One person Tyler was a fan of, however, was Jack White, whose own Coachella set started to bleed over to his stage to his surprising delight.
“Is that Jack White?” he said. “Nah, don’t say, ‘Fuck that,’ he’s cool. You watch that fucking Jack White, he’s awesome. But thanks for coming to watch, that shit is tight.”
Coachella continues tomorrow and you can catch the live-stream of the likes of Jamie xx, Mac DeMarco, Panda Bear, St. Vincent, MØ, Vance Joy and What So Not right here.
