Soundwave 2014 ticket holders displeased with the festival’s recently revealed set times have made their voices heard, with promoter and organiser AJ Maddah announcing that revised timetables for Sydney and Brisbane are set to be released tomorrow night, alongside the remaining set times for Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth which were due for release yesterday.
Timetables for Brisbane and Sydney were released early Thursday morning and, as expected, a number of punters expressed their frustration at clashes, some of which have been deemed “unacceptable” by Maddah.
As well as addressing some of these complaints, the revised set times will also attempt to fix some unexpected logistical problems including requests from bands to move their slots and props which are too large for allotted stages.
Since announcing the revisions, Maddah has been responding to questions from inquisitive fans via his Twitter account. So far, it appears that:
- The revisions for Sydney are “not too drastic”
- Alkaline Trio are moving stages to accommodate longer set times for Avenged Sevenfold
- Panic! At The Disco and Placebo may no longer overlap
- The Gwar and Rob Zombie clash will be addressed
- The clash between Rob Zombie and Motionless In White will also be addressed
- Mastodon have asked to move their slot
- Amon Amarth may move out of the stage 4 annex and onto stage 4 because of their “giant fuck off fire breathing Viking Ship”
- Black Veil Brides and Suicide Silence will not clash
- There’s “no plan” to fix the clash between Placebo and Filter
- Our Last Night, Bowling For Soup and Zebrahead may have their set lengths extended
- Maddah has shot down speculation that the timetable amendments are being made to accommodate a return for Megadeth, who pulled out of the festival recently
- The Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth timetables won’t be vastly different from the Sydney and Brisbane ones
As a bonus, Maddah has also suggested that maps for all venues will also be released on Sunday. As it stands, the new set times will be released at 7pm tomorrow night.
