Unknown Mortal Orchestra have already been announced on the lineup for Meredith and Sydney’s new Fairground Festival but now they have revealed they will be sharing the multi-love with the whole country.
The Kiwi band lead by Ruban Nielson will perform four headline shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne while they’re here in December capping off a great year for the band. Earlier this year they released their excellent third album Multi-Love and have since played everything from Bonnaroo in the US to Primavera Sound in Spain.
Multi-Love was the follow-up to 2013’s II and heralded in a crisper sound with Nielson entering band mode. While a lot of the UMO project was conceived in a bedroom, it’s translating beautifully on-stage as psychedelic elements meet pop peppered with a little bit of oddball motown.
Their recent return to late night television in the US on Late Night With Seth Meyers proves all the above with Nielson performing atop a piano howling out Multi-Love with soul.
UMO will kick-off their Aussie tour on 3rd December in Perth. They will be joined on all dates by Kiwi punk rock trio Las Tetas. Check out all the details below.
