Ur Boy Bangz Returns With New Song ‘Black Lives Matter’

If (like us) you thought Sudanese-born Melbourne rapper Ur Boy Bangz was out of the game, you’d be wrong, because he’s just dropped a politically charged new track called Black Lives Matter.

Bangz (real name Ajak Chol) uses Black Lives Matter — named after the civil rights movement of the same name — to rap about justice, freedom, the KKK and the future of humanity. Stream the track’s music video in full, below.

Bangz’s Black Lives Matter track comes after a peaceful Black Lives Matter protest was hijacked by armed individuals in Dallas last week, with five police officers being fatally shot. Aside from Bangz, the likes of Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Drake have also called for action after the recent deaths of black men Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police.

Bangz first captured the internet’s attention with his 2009 viral hit Take U To Da Movies. American talkshow host Jimmy Fallon dissed the track on The Tonight Show last year, leading Bangz to hit back with a fiery anti-Fallon track which revived his rap career.

Since then, Bangz has used his music to declare that hip hop is dead and to take aim at Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian on the track There U Go.

In August 2015 Bangz announced he would leave music forever after releasing his final album, which never arrived. Instead, the rapper said he was leaving music after dropping his Christmas 2015 anthem Christmas Story Part III, but he’s now returned with Black Lives Matter.

Bangz, who was born in South Sudan in 1990, immigrated to Australia with his family in 2003 after spending two years in Egypt.
