DUFFY

It’s been hard to avoid the sensation over Welsh pop act Duffy lately. Her album Rockferry not only became the best selling album in the UK last year, but also reached number one in 11 countrie. The single from the album, Mercy reached the top of the charts even before it was available at the shops (she was also the first Welsh singer in over 20 years to hit number one).

Duffy has started 2009 on a high, nominated for 4 Brit Awards – Best Album, Best single (Mercy), Best Female and British Breakthrough Act. This 24 year old diva is most adored for her lush, rich voice and soul catching melodies. Drawing comparisons to Aretha Franklin and Dusty Springfield, this Welsh stunner is set to woo Australian audiences with her captivating live show.

KAISER CHIEFS with special guests RAZORLIGHT

In one of the most exciting match-ups of the V Festival undercard, Kaiser Chiefs and fellow larrikins Razorlight will pair up for a very special set of intimate shows.

Hailing from England’s industrial North Midlands, Kaiser Chiefs first won accolades in 2005 for their album Employment. In 2007 they released Yours Truly, Angry Mob, followed late last year by Off With Their Heads, which is a majestic hybrid of British sounds. By fusing the iconic new wave and punk music of the 70’s, the Kaiser Chiefs are set to serenade audiences at their Australian shows with their unmistakable infectious sounds. Since they formed in 2002, Razorlight single-handedly ushered English rock back into the music scene.
Their self-titled album was described by NME as “a soulful, romantic album about what happens when the lights come up at the end of the night and life smacks you in the face” Razorlight have undeniably harvested a musical terrain, which is set to thrill audiences across the country. Razorlight’s lead singer Johnny Borrell is a perfect introduction to the band. He embraces everything that they represent – unpredictable, exciting and memorable.
