Vampire Weekend Have Finally Previewed Some New Music

We’re only a month out before Vampire Weekend head to Australia for a one-off show as one of this year’s headliners for Splendour In The Grass, and they’re finally starting to play their new music.

Taking to Ojai, California’s Libbey Bowl over the weekend for two shows, the band gave their audiences a taste of what to expect from the upcoming follow-up to 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City.

On their first show, they played their self-titled debut album in full while also dabbling in some of frontman Ezra Koenig’s collaborations, like 2014’s ‘New Dorp, New York’ with SBTRKT.

Their second show’s setlist changed wildly from the first, however, but the most notable addition was a preview of a new song, reportedly called ‘Flower Moon.’

“Some have called this a minor track on the album – I mean like a, not minor key,” Koenig said. “Can’t properly play it anyway: there’s a lot of parts to it, and we would also need Steve Lacy.” Looks like The Internet’s Steve Lacy is a collaborator on this upcoming record.

The last time Vampire Weekend gave us an update on their album, which Kanye West influenced a rewrite of, they said it was 94% done. Now, apparently they’ve progressed…but only a little bit.

Watch a clip of the performance of the new song below.
