Van Halen have been announced as headliners for the inaugural Stone Music Festival, which will be held at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on April 20th and 21st. According to news.com.au, the one-off event will also feature Billy Joel, Kings of Chaos, Richie Ramone, Buckcherry, Lifehouse and Illumination Road.
A bunch of Australian rock acts and a few reformed 90’s acts are expected to be announced on the line-up before tickets go on sale this Thursday.
The festival was inspired by the ’70s cult biker film Stone and will feature a commemorative motorcycle ride and hot rod show.
The last time Van Halen were announced as headliners for an Australian festival was the cancelled Soundwave Revolution festival. At the time reports suggested that Van Halen pulled out of the festival leaving promoters with no option but to cancel, and Soundwave boss AJ Maddah said the 80’s rockers were “surrounded by idiots“.
