Vanilla Ice Is Set To Be Played By Dave Franco In New Biopic

As the world pushes for a more diverse bunch of stories shared through various mediums, someone thought it would be a great idea to tell the story of Vanilla Ice – and Dave Franco has signed on to play the enigmatic artist.

The biopic, which is titled To The Extreme and named after Ice’s major label debut album, is set to cover the rise to fame for the rapper, real name Robert Van Winkle, “from a high school drop out selling cars in Dallas to having the first hip-hop single to top the Billboard charts with ‘Ice Ice Baby’.” Lovely.

However, there’s no set date for the film to premiere because it doesn’t have a director yet, nor does it have a date where production is set to start. You can blame the pandemic for that one.

To The Extreme was written by Chris Goodwin and Phillip Van, and Franco has been spending time with the inspiration behind the project.

“Rob is such a sweet and intelligent guy and he’s been super helpful in the process of getting all the details correct and making us privy to information the public doesn’t know,” said Franco in an interview with Insider.

Just talking to him I can’t help but think about the rabbit holes I’m going to go down to get ready for the role.”

In other Ice related news, he recently announced that he was going to play a non socially-distanced concert in America earlier this month before cancelling as he “didn’t know the numbers (of coronavirus) were so crazy.”
