Veronica Falls Drummer Patrick Doyle Has Died, Aged 32

Musician Patrick Doyle, drummer for English indie-pop band Veronica Falls and songwriter in Boys Forever/Basic Plumbing, has died at the age of 32.

A statement posted to the Boys Forever Facebook page reads, “He was a dear son, brother, uncle and friend, and we loved him dearly. His family are immensely proud of all he achieved.

“We’re asking for any donations to be given to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, who were an invaluable support for Patrick.”

Doyle’s Veronica Falls bandmate Marion Herbain has taken to Instagram to say, “Everything hurts and it’s been hard finding the right words while dealing with feelings ranging from complete heartbreak to remorse.

“It hasn’t fully sunk in yet, but I’m glad I got to spend some of the best years of my life by your side, as a bandmate and a friend.”

A number of tributes to Doyle have also been posted online, with Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos tweeting, “I am heartbroken by the news of the death of my friend, Patrick Doyle. Smart, funny, a great musician…. I can’t sum up his life on here. I will miss him.”

Veronica Falls toured Australia for the first time back in 2013, off the back of their second album Waiting For Something To Happen.

The cause of Doyle’s death is yet to be revealed. View a number of tributes to him, below.
