The Vivian Girls are three Brooklyn-via-New Jersey gals who went from forming to opening for Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo to landing on year-end critics’ list in just over a year. With 10 songs clocking in under 25 minutes, their debut self titled album (released just over a year ago) was a flash flood of surf punk, girl group croon and heavy reverb, inspired by the Wipers, Nirvana and the Shangri-La’s.
The new Vivian Girls album Everything Goes Wrong is out real soon on In-fidelity Records/Inertia. They recorded it in six days (rather than the three their debut took), though many of the songs were still recorded in single takes. The band is currently streaming two rad new tracks, The End and Can’t Get Over You, on their Myspace page.
