Vivid Sydney has announced its line-up for Vivid Live 2013 and it’s a goddamn doozy – as you probably already know electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk are coming and joining them on the bill will be Empire Of The Sun premiering their new album Ice On The Dune, Bobby Womack in his first-ever Australian headline shows, Sounds Of The South fronted by Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver), Cloud Control, Sunnyboys and Gurrumul.
What else, you ask? How about the 45-piece Heritage Orchestra performing Vangelis’ score to the cult classic film Blade Runner, accompanied by an audio visual multimedia show. The Heritage Orchestra, under the guidance of composer Scanner and working with Live_Transmission, will also deconstruct the music of Joy Division . In addition to all this Karl Hyde from the iconic Underworld will perform new material from his solo works as well as reinterpreting the classic of Underworld.
Last year, more than 500,000 people attended Vivid Sydney events – a personal best. This year, Spinifex Group will be lighting the sails of the Opera House with an interactive 3-D display, and there will be listening posts scattered around Circular Quay for the public to engage in music events in previously unheard of ways.
Get excited – Vivid Sydney’s kicking off really soon, and with a line-up like this, Sydney’s going to buzzing between 24th May and 10th June.
