Triple j has announced that voting for the 2015 triple j Hottest 100 will open at 8am tomorrow, Thursday, 10th December, which means there’s now less than 24 hours to finalise any end-of-year lists if you want to get your votes in bright and early.
Earlier this week, triple j released the results of their latest poll, which saw listeners vote for their favourite albums of 2015. The top 10 albums (of which half are packed with homegrown Aussie tunes) can be viewed in all their glory in the gallery below.
Last month, a self-described “Hottest 100 enthusiast” named Patrick Avenell released a 3000-word report predicting the top 10 songs on the 2015 Hottest 100 — predictions which he says he is “very confident” with.
Last year, triple j gave punters a week’s notice ahead of opening the voting for the Hottest 100 of 2014, which was won by Chet Faker’s hit track Talk Is Cheap.
Traditionally, the public has 30 days to vote for its favourite songs after voting kicks off, and, as always, the results will be broadcast on triple j from 100 to one on Australia Day, 26th January.
This year, after voting in the Hottest 100, punters will also have the option to make a donation to AIME, a mentoring program which supports Indigenous kids through high school and into university, training and employment in order to help close the gap in educational outcomes.
With voting opening at 8am tomorrow, now’s the time to get listing, get finalising and (if you’re super-keen) start staring at the countdown on the triple j website.
