Big news on the Vans Warped Tour Australia 2013 front. The festival will not only play host to Canberra’s Hands Like Houses, but fans are likely to see the second lineup announcement made this week. Promoter AJ Maddah revealed via Twitter that the delay in announcement, which was set to take place “Mid September,” has to do with Swedish band Millencolin.

Originally slated for Warped, hardcore legends H2O were revealed to be a bust after Maddah explained that they “were looking positive to join the line up and were included on the original draft artwork” but were then cancelled, with the artwork sent out by mistake, leaving any empty slot on the roster.
That empty slot now looks to have been filled by Aussie post-hardcore band Hands Like Houses, whose frontman Trenton Woodley recently confirmed their appearance at Warped to Tonight Alive singer Jenna McDougall. Tonight Alive are likewise set to play Warped and the two bands toured nationally following the release of Tonight Alive’s sophomore album The Other Side.
Woodley accidentally revealed Hands Like Houses’ spot on the Warped bill when discussing touring plans with McDougall. The news then leaked when Tonight Alive shared the interview footage, which is currently private on the Live Nation Australia/New Zealand YouTube channel, on their official Facebook page.
In response to a fan’s Twitter question, asking if the second Warped announcement would be made this week, AJ Maddah disclosed the hold-up behind the second announcement and revealed one name potentially on the roster, tweeting “I am trying to get Millencolin shoe horned into the 2nd announcement. Just waiting on them to tell me 1 way or the other.”
Last Friday, Maddah explained the hold up was due to his “Waiting on a band trying to move a Euro show they have scheduled for the same time. If we get them it’ll be worth the wait!” It’s now highly likely that the band in question was Swedish punk rock four-piece Millencolin, who are presently on tour, with European shows scheduled for late 2013.
Little other info has leaked regarding Warped, though Music Feeds has previously speculated on the likelihood of Sparks The Rescue and The Decline joining the roster, with Maddah tweeting optimistically about the two bands. Other names looking likely include Reel Big Fish and We The Kings, who both have Australian tours planned for Nov-Dec.
