Back in January, music stars from across America gathered in Los Angeles to pay special tribute to Aretha Franklin as part of CBS’ special tribute Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul.
Now, CBS has finally aired the tribute, and a whole slew of performers took to the stage. The likes of Janelle Monáe, Kelly Clarkson, Common, Patti LaBelle, John Legend and many more gathered to pay tribute to the legendary Franklin. But one performance in particular grabbed people’s attention, and that was the medley performed by Alicia Keys and SZA.
The two R&B goddesses took to the stage to perform a compilation of some of Franklin’s most powerful work, including ‘Spirit In The Dark’, ‘Day Dreaming’ and ‘You’re All I Need To Get By’.
Franklin, of course, passed away last year at 76 years old due to a pancreatic tumour.
