Sydney DJ Alison Wonderland has made tears flow during her historic set at Coachella with an incredible tribute to Avicii, who died on Friday at the age of just 28.
The pint-sized producer, who FYI just stole the crown as the highest billed female DJ in the California festival’s history, asked the crowd to shine their lights in the sky in tribute to the trailblazing Swedish electro legend, while cranking his 2011 hit ‘Levels’.
“RIP Avicii!” she yelled into the mic, her voice cracking with emotion. “Today we lost somebody very important in our community… I want you guys to shine out there for him.”
Posting a video of the moment on social media, which you can check out below, one punter wrote: “I can’t even watch this without crying”.
Wonderland’s emotional live tribute comes after Dutch producer Armin van Buuren also paid homage to Avicii during his gig at Sydney’s A State Of Trance festival on Saturday night.
Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) died in Muscat, Oman, where he’d been holidaying. A number of other musicians have already paid tribute to the late producer on social media, while police have confirmed there is “no criminal suspicion” surrounding his death.
