Watch Arctic Monkeys’ New ‘AM’ Tour Mini Doco

In what was surely a Christmas miracle for many fans around the globe, Brit-rock royalty Arctic Monkeys released a new 6.5 minute mini-documentary via YouTube on Christmas Eve. The video is a montage of backstage snippets, interviews and general Arctic Monkeys larrikinism from the band’s AM World Tour stop-off in South America this past November, interspersed with live footage of the band playing R U Mine? to packed-out stadiums.

The video also features nostalgia-tinged footage of the guys playing tennis, hanging out in hotel rooms, being chauffeured around South American cities and fooling around on the beach. This is classic rockstar antics at its very best — just don’t expect to see any TVs being thrown out of windows (though we kind of wish they would).

Arctic Monkeys stopped by Australia on the same tour earlier this year, where they actually played R U Mine? twice in Brisbane because of a sound malfunction. At the time, our reviewer said the show “was like whiskey swirling around a glass – smooth and timelessly appealing”. Yum.

One thing is certain: if any band can make a mini-documentary as irreverent, cheeky and dripping in cool as this, it’s Arctic Monkeys. It’s not often nowadays that a band survives past its fifth studio album, never mind that AM was nominated Best Album Of The Year by NME, and was one of Arctic Monkeys’ most successful albums.

All we have to say is, Alex Turner, We R Urs.
