Watch Arctic Monkeys Take Fans Behind The Scenes Of Their New Album

Arctic Monkeys‘ latest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino was by far their most experimental yet, and now they’ve given us an insight into the method behind the madness.

The band have released a 12 minute clip to YouTube, titled Warp Speed Chic, that shows the band during the making of the album in France. On top of that, it also documents their performance in Lyon, France and behind-the-scenes footage of the making of their trippy ‘Four Out Of Five’ video, as well as the clip for the title track.

The short film, directed by Ben Chappell, is also accompanied by the announcement of a new 7″ vinyl for the album’s title track, which also features a brand new B-side ‘Anyways’. You can pre-order that here.

Chappell gave a statement on the short film, and how it all came about.

“After spending a year documenting Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino I wanted to try and pull it all together in a short film,” he said.

“I spent a few weeks with the band in France documenting the recording process with my 16mm camera in September 2017. At that point I was still only hearing bits and pieces of the tunes as they were being recorded. Nearly a year later I was on stage with them in Lyon France shooting some of those same tunes. When the film came back from the lab I put the live songs next to my shots of them recording and found it to be quite nice. With that as a starting point, I then used James Ford’s instrumental mixes of the album and put an assortment of the images we created for this album overtop giving a glimpse into the last year and the full progression of Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.”
