Watch Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Metallica & More Honour Chris Cornell At Huge Tribute Concert

Late Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple Of The Dog frontman Chris Cornell has been honoured at a massive tribute concert in Los Angeles, with performances from members of bands like Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Metallica and Queens Of The Stone Age, as well as a long-awaited reunion from Soundgarden.

‘I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell’ was organised by Cornell’s widow Vicky Cornell, and featured 42 different performances and a bunch of surprise guests across almost five hours on Wednesday night.

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel managed the show as master of ceremonies, and introduced the concert with a five-song set from Melvins, which included a cover of Soundgarden’s ‘Spoonman’, as Rolling Stone reports.

The night also saw Foo Fighters cover Soundgarden’s ‘No Attention’, Metallica cover Soundgarden’s ‘All Your Lies’ and ‘Head Injury’, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme cover Soundgarden’s ‘Rusty Cage’, Ryan Adams cover Soundgarden’s ‘Fell On Black Days’ and Cornell’s ‘Dead Wishes’, and Miley Cyrus cover Cornell’s ‘As Hope And Promise Fade’.

Audioslave (minus bassist Tim Commerford) also played five songs with different singers: ‘Cochise’ with Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell; ‘Be Yourself’ with Juliette Lewis; ‘Set It Off’ with Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath; ‘Like a Stone’ with Brandi Carlile; and ‘Show Me How to Live’ with Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl.

Metallica’s Robert Trujillo and Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler were among those to fill in for Commerford on bass guitar.

Cornell’s 14-year-old daughter Toni also covered Bob Marley’s ‘Redemption Song’ in tribute to her father, with help from Marley’s son Ziggy Marley.

The show ended with a performance from Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron, who performed together publicly for the first time since Cornell’s death in May 2017. The band were joined by a number of different singers, including Taylor Momsen, Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins, Brandie Carlile and Peter Frampton.

Other performers and guests on the night included Jack Black, Alice in Chains’ William DuVall, Fiona Apple and Miguel.
