Adelaide rocker Bad//Dreems took to the triple j studios this morning delivering a bare-boned rendition of The Weeknd‘s mammoth hit Can’t Feel My Face for the station’s weekly Like A Version segment.
The band’s organic rock style is miles away from The Weeknd’s dark brand of R&B but they took the song completely into their own lane. They transformed the track into a raucous, raw rock track breathing new, unexpected life into it.
The Preatures frontwoman Izzy Manfredi was also along for the ride calling Bad//Dreems her “favourite band in Australia at the moment,” and then adding backing vocals to Can’t Feel My Face.
In addition to the cover, the boys nailed a live performance of their own track Cuffed & Collared. Cuffed & Collared is taken from their debut album Dogs At Bay which dropped in August of this year. It’s one of many highlights in a huge year for the band. They’re currently on a national headline tour and will play a sold-out show in Melbourne this weekend.
