It’s a song that has been in Beck’s repertoire for some time now, but it was his most recent performance of Prince’s anthemic Raspberry Beret that’s sure to resonate with fans the most.
The musician choice the song to close his headline performance at the recent Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis. The whole performance had Beck and co. draped in blood of purple lighting, making the tribute complete.
Beck’s love affair with Raspberry Beret, originally performed by Prince and The Revolution, goes way back. He explained in an interview that the track directly influenced his hit track Debra from 1999’s Midnite Vultures.
