Bruno Mars has become the latest A-List muso to ride shotgun in Late Late Show host James Cordon’s automobile, appearing in this week’s episode of his viral video-making machine, Carpool Karaoke.
And it was joyous ride, ticking all the boxes for a perfect cameo: playful banter, casual dabbing, spirit fingers, a cheeky Elvis impersonation, impressive impromptu harmonies and top notch renditions of jams from across Mars’ feelgood catalogue: 24K Magic, Locked Out Of Heaven, Grenade, Versace On the Floor, Perm and — of course — Uptown Funk.
Other highlights include Mars trying (unsuccessfully) to teach Corden how to do a seductive shoulder dance, revealing the contents of his tour rider, and proving that he can wear LITERALLY ANY HAT.
“That’s it. I’ve never felt more alive,” Corden quips at the end of the pair’s cruise, which really does sum it up.
Unlike the cringefest that was Madonna’s cameo last week, this is 24K TV magic. It’s basically impossible to watch and not grin.
