We’ve already heard first single Leave A Trace from CHVRCHES’ forthcoming sophomore record Every Eye Open due out in September and now we’ve got another song to keep us waiting with baited breath.
During their set at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, the Glasgow trio played Leave A Trace and new track Clearest Blue. Unlike most live recordings, this one was done by Pitchfork and it’s not filmed on an iPhone camera, meaning we’re able to hear the track perfectly and it sounds excellent.
Built upon a stomping beat, it’s one of the most energetic songs the Scottish outfit have ever written – even the crowd who have obviously never heard the song before are fist-pumping by its final chorus. It’s not the first time the band have played the new track live though, having unleashed it recently on stage at the RBC Bluesfest in Ottawa.
Still, it’s good to see that CHVRCHES are just as comfortable up there on the main stage as they are covering Paramore on Rock Band.
The band haven’t been in Australia since Splendour In The Grass last year, but before then they were regular visitors of Australia. Let’s hope that a new album brings them back here swiftly so we can hear this new material live for ourselves.
CHVRCHES’ new album, Every Open Eye, will arrive on Friday, September 25th.
