Courtney Love has chosen Britney Spears to be the latest artist covered in her newly launched ‘Bruises of Love’ series.
The series first saw Love cover ‘California Stars’ by Wilco and Billy Bragg last month. This time around, the Hole singer has decided to put Spears’ ‘Lucky’ to work.
Freely admitting that it would probably sound a lot more…finessed (?) had another guitarist accompanied her for the session, Love worked her way through the track, putting her spin on the glossy pop original.

The ‘Bruises of Love’ series came about as Love continued to recover from a serious battle with anaemia last year. Through her recovery process, Love began to have some jam sessions and from there, ‘Bruises of Love’ was born.
It’s a refreshing positive light Love has put herself in. Recently, she attracted backlash for accusing Olivia Rodrigo of plagiarism and publicly apologised to both Dave Grohl and Trent Reznor after making unfounded claims about both.
Britney Spears, of course, has been in the public eye intensely in recent months as her conservatorship battle with her father, Jamie Spears, has seen a new outpouring of support from celebrities and the public in general.
Last week, a Los Angeles court denied Spears’ request to have her father removed as her conservator denied again.
