Watch Cub Sport’s Soulful Kanye West Cover For ‘Like A Version’

Aussie indie outfit Cub Sport have used an appearance on triple j‘s covers segment Like A Version to drop a slow and soulful version of Kanye West‘s The Life Of Pablo album opener Ultralight Beam.

Cub Sport’s version of the Chance The Rapper-featuring Kanye track (below) sees the band layer keyboard, drums and guitar with some gorgeous harmonised vocals, staying true to the gospel elements of Ultralight Beam‘s original recording.

This isn’t the first time a Kanye West song has appeared on Like A Version, with hip hop MC Citizen Kay mashing up Kanye’s Gold Digger with songs by Mark Ronson and The Commodores earlier this year and Glass Animals reworking Kanye’s Love Lockdown a few years back.

While in the triple j studios, Cub Sport also performed their original song Come On Mess Me Up, which features on the band’s debut album This Is Our Vice.

Cub Sport kick off a national tour later this month. Watch both of the band’s Like A Version performances, below.
