Watch Death Cab For Cutie Cover TLC’s ‘Waterfalls’

Death Cab for Cutie recently released The Georgia EP, a covers collection of songs by artists from the state of Georgia prior to the state’s senate runoff election, with all proceeds going to Stacey Abrams’ voter’s rights organisation Fair Fight.

Among the five-track collection are the emo titans’ takes on R.E.M‘s ‘Fall On Me’, Neutral Milk Hotel‘s ‘The King of Carrot Flowers’, Cat Power‘s ‘Metal Heart’ and ‘Flirted With You All My Life’ by Vic Chesnutt. The EP’s opening track, however, is a rendition of TLC‘s 1995 hit ‘Waterfalls’.

Now, the band have appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to deliver a remote live performance of the classic. As you might expect, Ben Gibbard and co’s version strays a little further into atmospheric indie rock territory than the R&B-heavy original, resulting in a stripped back, slow-burning, and honestly very earnest rendition.
