Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki has farewelled Zan Rowe after 11 years of hosting a weekly science segment together on triple j Mornings.
Rowe is leaving triple j at the end of this week to move over to the ABC‘s sister station Double J, meaning this morning was her final Science Hour with Dr. Karl.
Dr. Karl will stick around next year to do the segment with Linda Marigliano, but he bid an emotional farewell to Rowe today, telling her, “You have made us greater than the whole, than individuals.
“I have been so lucky to have you as my partner…you’re smart, you’re hard-working,” he continued as the pair fought back tears.
Rowe then replied saying, “Karl, you are a beautiful, beautiful spirit.
“When I told you that I wanted to do some stuff outside of triple j you invited me over for dinner and told me all the things you did wrong so I could do them right… thank you for the last 11 years and for making me a better person.”
Watch the full emotional farewell below, but maybe have a tissue handy.
As well as Marigliano taking over Mornings next year, Alex Dyson will return to the triple j Lunch spot, while Bridget Hustwaite will take over Good Nights. You can see all the 2018 host changes right here.
