This year’s Grammy awards has been pretty bloody wild so far, but Drake took it to another level by essentially calling the award irrelevant – while accepting his Grammy.
In what can either be seen as a proper boss move or a case of biting the hand that feeds you, Drake took home the award for ‘Best Rap Song’ for his huge 2018 hit ‘God’s Plan.’
As he took to the stage, he began his speech by shouting out the budding musicians at home who might not feel successful.
“We play in an opinion-based sport, not a factual-based sport,” he said.
“You’ve already won if you have people who are singing your songs word for word, if you’re a hero in your hometown. Look, if there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain and snow, spending money to buy tickets to your shows, you don’t need this right here. You already won.”
After that, his microphone was cut and it went to an ad break.
