UK band, Gengahr are currently in the country for a couple of shows in Sydney and Melbourne. While they’re visiting, they’ve stopped in at triple j for Like a Version. Giving us a rendition of Billie Eilish’s ‘everything i wanted’, they’ve put a massive indie rock twist on the 2019 tune.
The Billie Eilish cover starts off staying true to the original and Felix’s vocals absolutely nail that eery, gentle beginning. It eventually picks up with whirling guitars and succinct arrangements — it’s really neat.
They also gave us a life performance of ‘Heavenly Maybe’, a funky tune taken from their brand new album Sactuary. Sactuary came out Friday, 31st January.
This is Gengahr’s first visit to Australia since 2015. They’re playing Sydney’s Lansdowne Hotel tonight and Melbourne’s Howler tomorrow night.
