Gordi and Alex Lahey have shared a new session as part of Seattle radio station KEXP’s Live at Home series, performing together from Small Time Group in Melbourne.
The live session opens with both artists playing their recently-released collaborative single ‘Dino’s, which arrived last month. The song is inspired by the titular dive bar in Nashville, and was written about “the feeling of being totally captivated by the person sitting across from you while the world spins madly on.”
The five-song setlist also includes ‘Extraordinary Life’ and ‘Sandwiches’ from Gordi’s 2020 album Our Two Skins, along with two Lahey tracks – ‘Unspoken History’ from 2019’s The Best of Luck Club and ‘Wes Anderson’ from 2016 EP B-Grade University. Throughout the set, both artists swap between acoustic guitar and an old, refurbished harmonium.
Interspersed with the live performance is an extensive interview between Gordi and Lahey and KEXP host Cheryl Waters that sees them discuss ‘Dino’s’, Dolly Parton, the harmonium used throughout the set, the music both artists listened to during lockdown last year and more.
