Watch Grunge Royalty Re-Team For Mad Season & Temple Of The Dog Reunions

Current members of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains, and a former member of Guns N’ Roses have teamed up for a huge Seattle concert titled Sonic Evolution, the fourth annual concert organised by the Seattle Symphony in celebration of Seattle’s musical history. What’s more, footage of the musicians reviving tracks by Mad Season and Temple Of The Dog has now made its way online.

Sonic Evolution saw Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam members Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Matt Cameron (also of Soundgarden) perform at Benaroya Hall with former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, Alice In Chains’ Sean Kinney and drummer Barrett Martin on the night of Friday, 30th January.

McCready and Martin — members of the recently reunited Seattle supergroup Mad Season — were joined by Cornell and McKagan for the four Mad Season tracks River Of Deceit, I Don’t Know Anything, All Alone and Long Gone Day.

Mad Season’s original frontman, Layne Staley of Alice in Chains, died in 2002 following a battle with depression and drug addiction. The group’s late bassist John Baker Saunders died in 1999 following a heroin overdose.

Two songs by the short-lived Soundgarden and Pearl Jam joint project Temple Of The Dog were played by Cornell, Ament, Gossard and Cameron. The two tracks were Call Me A Dog and Reach Down. An original symphonic piece written by McCready, titled Walking The Horizon, was also performed.

This year’s Sonic Evolution concert also saw the premiere of orchestral pieces partly inspired by the work of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. View clips from the concert, below.
