While Hayley Williams self-isolates (along with the rest of the world) due to the coronavirus pandemic, she’s been regularly taking to Instagram to perform pared back covers. They’ve been pretty far-ranging – for instance, Williams covered Phoebe Bridgers’ Stranger in the Alps opener ‘Smoke Signals’ last week, and ‘The Taste of Ink’ by The Used a few days back.
Now, the Paramore singer has taken on Tegan and Sara‘s absolutely undeniable heartbreak classic ‘Call It Off’, taken from their 2007 album The Con. “amateur hour / self-serenade. my strings are old, i have no pants on, i felt like playing this sad song,” Williams captioned the post.
Williams is currently preparing to release her debut solo album Petals for Armor, which is due out Friday, 8th May. She’s released a couple singles from the project already – ‘Simmer’ and ‘Leave It Alone’ back in January, and ‘Over Yet’ earlier this month.
