After an extremely busy 2012, Melbourne rockers Hunting Grounds have unveiled the third single from their well-received album In Hindsight.
Star Shards has been described as “a frantic and climactic track, built with aching bass and terrestrial soundscapes” and filled with “reverb-drenched guitars and cleverly selected synth sounds.”
To coincide with the release of the single, the band have also put together another interesting video directed by Ballarat crew Vegadeets Films. The video for Star Shards was shot in Ballarat’s industrial area – and saw a scrap metal yard transformed into a battlefield for an apocalyptic-style hockey game of epic proportions. Check out the video at the bottom of the page.
A handful of remixes of the band’s past tracks have also surfaced. Goldfields have done a gloomy but danceable remix of their last single Flaws, and producer Paul ‘Woody’ Annison has done a space-flavoured remix of Star Shards. Both are free to download from the band’s SoundCloud page.
Hunting Grounds will do a handful of shows next month in Sydney and Melbourne. They’ll then jump on board the Big Day Out tour in January.
