LISTEN: Iggy Pop Joins Eurovision Winners Måneskin for New Version of ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’

Today in collabs-we-didn’t-see-coming, punk icon Iggy Pop has teamed up with this year’s Eurovision winners Måneskin for a reworked version of the Italian hard rock band’s monster new single ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’.

“It was such an honor that Iggy loved our music and wanted to work with us,” the band, who were not high on cocaine during the song contest’s blockbuster final, said in a statement.

“It was touching seeing him sing ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’ live in front of us, it was very powerful to see such a big artist being so open and friendly. We all grew up listening to his music and he inspired us to start up a band, it’s still unbelievable for us that we had the chance to get to know him and make music together.”

While Iggy added some brief but powerful words of enthusiasm, saying: “Måneskin gave me a big hot buzz”.

The title of ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’ was of course a nod to The Stooges’ 1969 classic ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’, making the surprise collab even more poetic.

You can give it a listen below.
