Watch Jack White Crash Beck’s Encore

After headlining Rhode Island’s Newport Folk Festival on Saturday night, rock’n’roll stalwart Jack White became the special musical guest at Beck‘s concert in nearby Providence, joining the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist for a huge encore.

Footage has now emerged (below) of Beck, backed by his band and his buddy Jack White, closing out the Providence concert with performances of Beck classics Loser, Pay No Mind and the hip-hop infused Where It’s At.

White, who was introduced by Beck as “the best bartender in the world”, contributed both guitar and vocal work to Beck’s tunes, with countless smiles crossing his face during the encore, which reportedly finished with White, Lennon, Beck and his band all line dancing together.

According to The Future Heart, segments of the One Foot In The Grave theme song and Chic‘s Good Times were also scattered throughout the encore. Sean Lennon also added tambourine to the extended performance of Where It’s At, after he and his band The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger opened for Beck.

Jack White has taken his covers and collaborations a little more seriously recently, covering everyone from Lorde to Metallica, and even meshing Jay-Z and Pulp Fiction. He also recently played a mammoth 3-hour set – the longest of his career.

Beck, meanwhile, is prepping the recorded version of his sheet-music album Song Reader, which will also feature contributions from Jack White. The album is out on 1st August.
